The Dog Oral Rabies Vaccine (ORV) Manual provides practical, field-focused guidance for the safe and effective use of oral rabies vaccines in dogs. Designed for vaccination teams and programme managers, it outlines when and how ORV can be used to complement injectable vaccination, particularly to reach free-roaming or hard-to-handle dogs.
The manual covers vaccine characteristics, distribution methods, safety precautions, community engagement, storage and handling, and monitoring approaches to support high vaccination coverage and progress towards rabies elimination.
The manual complements existing Tripartite guidance on oral rabies vaccination of dogs.
The United Against Rabies Forum includes experts with knowledge, skills and experience with oral rabies vaccination that are willing to assist countries in integrating this into their national strategies to control rabies.
