The first records of rabies appear around 2300 BC and the disease has long been associated with domestic dogs. Today, it remains a significant public health risk to around 75% of the world’s population, occurring in around 150 countries.
This roadmap for neglected tropical diseases 2021–2030 is WHO’s second blueprint for preventing, controlling and, where feasible, eliminating and eradicating neglected tropical diseases.
A One Health approach that recognises the relationships between human, animal, and environmental health is key to sustainably address Neglected Tropical Diseases, and achieve the targets set out in WHO’s Road map for neglected tropical disease.
