Reliable rabies diagnosis is essential for effective surveillance and timely public health action, yet access to confirmatory testing remains limited in many settings. Lateral flow devices (LFDs) — rapid, point-of-care tests — can support rabies detection in animals where laboratory capacity is constrained, but their use requires careful consideration.
This webinar will present the WOAH Rabies Reference Laboratory Network (RABLAB) guidance: “Overview of LFD Tests for Field Application”, highlighting what is known about LFD performance, their potential role in surveillance, and the conditions under which they may be applied appropriately.
